South Africa's national rugby team, the Springboks, faces the possibility of sending Yaqeen Ahmed back home amidst their preparation for four crucial matches this November.
The team, which includes six uncapped players in a 37-member squad, is gearing up for the second stage of the Nations Championship, beginning with a matchup against Italy this Saturday.
Coach Rassie Erasmus has chosen not to debut any new players initially, allowing them time to acclimate and learn from seasoned teammates. Among these newcomers, Yaqeen Ahmed, a standout young flyhalf, has gained attention following his impressive performances this season with the Stormers and the Junior Springboks.
Yet, Ahmed's participation is in doubt due to a shoulder injury, which he openly discussed with Erasmus, leading to considerations about his return to South Africa for medical evaluation.
Despite this setback, the team plans to gradually integrate its new talent, hoping to showcase their skills in the upcoming weeks against strong international opponents.
The opening match against Italy is scheduled to take place in Turin at 13:40, with the team's lineup already announced, featuring established names and rising stars prepared to perform.
