Malcolm Marx, renowned Springbok hooker, is rumored to be on the verge of rejoining South African rugby. He is reportedly finalizing a three-year contract with the Bulls.
The 32-year-old is speculated to move to the Pretoria-based team starting 1 July 2027, following the end of his current contract with Japan's Kubota Spears.
Although formal announcements from either the Bulls or Marx himself are pending, sources suggest discussions are almost concluded, with 90% of the arrangement reportedly complete.
Marx's anticipated move is driven by a possible reunion with Bulls' head coach Johan Ackermann, a significant influence during Marx's earlier career at the Lions from 2014 to 2019.
The Bulls are keen to bolster their lineup following Junior Springbok Esethu Mnebelele's decision to join the Sharks, who were also reportedly interested in acquiring Marx.
In Japan, Marx has excelled at Kubota Spears since 2021, achieving 41 tries in 68 matches and contributing to their Japan Rugby League One title win in the 2022/23 season.
Bringing Marx back to South Africa would reintroduce a seasoned international player into the domestic circuit, further enhancing the Bulls' roster.
